WordPress.com

Role: Director of Product and Business Management

Reporting to Automattic’s Chief Business Officer, I was one of several senior product and business leads responsible for identifying and validating new market opportunities for Automattic, whether via building, buying, or partnering approaches.

In this role, I led development of new product opportunities focused on the massive ecosystem of WordPress developers and web professionals, many of who were underserved (or not served at all) by Automattic’s paid offerings. Using partnerships with freelancer marketplaces such as Upwork, we proved the existence of significant demand for these services among WordPress.com’s existing user base, and we developed a strategy to use this demand to create fly-wheel effect to attract 3rd party website builders and their clients. I continued developing this work when I moved over to Jetpack.

Key skills: Product management, market strategy, sourcing and securing early stage product partnerships
