Solae in India
The 2nd implementation of the BoP Protocol was launched in 2006 as a new business development initiative for the Solae Company, an international soy ingredients supplier and subsidiary of DuPont. The resulting ventures focused on the sale of soy protein ingredients in the Indiramma Nagar cluster of slums in Hyderabad as well as in the Parvathagiri and Annaram Sharif villages of Warangal District in the state of Andra Pradesh.
Role: Field Director
Assisted in project design and development, trained the seven-member field team in community engagement and business design methodologies, and managed relationships with Solae executives. Recruited local work forces, performed ethnographic studies, developed business design and entrepreneurship workshops for housewives, and drove development of business concepts and business models for two new ventures.
